Fashion photography (and I’m using the term very loosely to include SI) is sooo innovative!

I feel like I split so much ink and expended so much energy railing against spreads like this. I wrote a blog post on it last summer: http://jonathansquare.com/2012/06/notes-on-a-balinese-photo-shoot/
Here’s another recent example: http://www.madeinbrazilblog.com/blog/giampaolo-sgura-and-anna-dello-russo-overhaul-vogue-brazil/
I remember that post! And yeah, i think we’ve said all we’re going to on this nonsense (which is why this was mostly a photo post) – it’s just TIRED.
you guys are the best fashion critics in the game!
Hello,
There’s another blogger that wrote a post about cultural appropriation in fashion. Though, she believes that fashion should be offensive and should continue to work with these images. Here’s the link: http://finalfashion.ca/inappropriation-why-fashion-is-a-cultural-scavenger/
I can’t say that I’m entirely sold on the argument because it wreaks of white privilege (which to be fair, she does admit having), but I’d love to know what your take on her post.
Best,
Stephen
I like the Fashion photography in the second photo. What do you not like about it?
Why would she be wearing a bikini on a bamboo raft!? What rubbish…
